Gleanings Ideas

Ideas that didn't see the light of day. I'm curious, which Shustermaniacs want to write some Gleanings fan-fiction?

When working on Gleanings, there were ideas for stories that never saw the light of day, and also ideas that evolved.

This is a list of some of those ideas.

You’ll recognize what some of those stories eventually became, as well as stories I ended up not writing. (I’ll be talking about this on our upcoming Shustermania Inner Circle Zoom Call on Dec 23rd.)

Take a gander at the ideas below…

Anyone who wants to take a shot at the unwritten stories as fan-fiction – I’ll post the best ones here on Substack!

Scythe Chomsky (never written)

Oddly, there is a fan base out there who are obsessed with Scythe Chomsky. He’s the pyromaniac in book 1. I have no ideas for a story about him, other than knowing I should have one.

Unsavories

A story about an unsavory girl. Again, no story, just an arena. How did she become unsavory? Is it a choice? Did it begin because she didn’t fit in, and then chose it? What is unsavory life like? We’ve seen some of it – especially in THUNDERHEAD, but is there a new story to tell about it? Fans are fascinated by the idea of Unsavorism, and the way the thunderhead allows people to be “bad,” but not really, because it’s all still managed by the Thunderhead. How does it serve the world to have unsavories? A lot of interesting questions to ask, and an interesting character to develop.

4 “Charter Region” Ideas

Below you’ll find a handful of never-written stories throughout the Scythe world…
